The repertoire for this event was updated, replacing William Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast with Mozart’s Requiem.
The MSU Symphony Orchestra joins forces with the Choral Union, State Singers, and University Chorale to paint a vivid portrait of human emotions. The evening’s repertoire is a rich tapestry, beginning with Brahms’ Schicksalslied, a mesmerizing composition renowned for its ethereal beauty, celestial harmonies, and profound depth. Following this, Richard Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier Suite sweeps audiences away with its blend of earthly passions, sublime melodies, and graceful waltzes, evoking the opulence and allure of Vienna’s golden era. The program culminates with Mozart’s Requiem, a work shrouded in mystery and revered for its expressive intensity. Left unfinished at the time of the composer’s death, the Requiem remains one of Mozart’s most stirring and powerful creations. Student vocalists from the College of Music will highlight the program as a featured soloist. An additional work will include a Fanfare selection composed by an MSU College of Music student. Sandra Snow, Jonathan Reed, and Octavio Más-Arocas, conductors.
Soloists: Elia Meekhoff, soprano; Meagan Wozney, mezzo-soprano; Michael Seare, tenor; and Jamie Eagle, bass.
Generously sponsored by James and Susan Bonfiglio.
