Take a journey through Vienna, the home of many great composers and the prominent location that cultivated classical development through the ages. We start our trip with Symphony, written by one of Schoenberg’s finest students in Vienna, Anton Webern, who dedicated the piece to his daughter. Next we visit Beethoven’s humorous symphony, and his shortest, Symphony No. 8 in F Major. Referred to as “The Little Symphony in F Major,” Beethoven did not return to the symphonic form for a dozen years after its completion. The final stop features four exceptional soloists as well as the talented voices of the University Chorale, State Singers and MSU Choral Union. Composed in Vienna, Mozart’s Requiem was his final composition, but not completed before his death. There is much speculation and many myths that surround this masterpiece.
