Japan’s virtuoso percussion ensemble makes its triumphant return to Wharton Center as part of its One Earth Tour. Electrifying audiences with their bold virtuosity, enormous strength and stamina, Kodo explores the limitless possibilities of the traditional Japanese drum and forges new directions for this vibrant, living art form. Powerful and dramatic, the performers showcase a sheer mastery of their instruments - some as small as a saucer, others as large as a tree trunk. On the One Earth Tour, Kodo will continue to bring the sound of the “taiko,” Japanese for “drum,” to the ears of the world - and with the taiko’s unique ability to transcend the barriers of language and custom - remind us all of our membership in that larger community: the world.
